![]() This is a very sensitive part of your tooth. As you can imagine, this can be quite painful and makes your teeth incredibly sensitive to any change in temperature. The only way to treat this type of issue is to cover those roots back up. How Can Dental Roots Get Covered? The best way to treat root exposure is to have a gum graft. This is when a small piece of tissue is stitched to the gums that are left, and the new tissue covers the previously exposed root, protecting it from outside forces or changes. This takes time to heal, but is a very effective way of treating the problem. However, this is not going to do you much good if you do not treat the problem that caused the gums to recede in the first place. This should be done while also having any issues in your mouth taken care of, including gum disease. Gum disease can be simple to treat if caught early, or it can be a bit more difficult to manage if it has gone on untreated for a significant amount of time. If you have already started to notice that your gums are receding or that your teeth are overly sensitive, then you need to call us right away. Let us know what you see and what you feel when we speak on the phone so we can set up the right kind of appointment for you. From there, we can treat the gum issue and help cover up those dental roots once more. |
