How Bacteria Move Down By the Roots of Your Teeth

How Bacteria Move Down By the Roots of Your TeethOne mouth is home to millions of bacteria. As much as most of the bacteria are healthy, there are some that could be harmful to your health. These bacteria could find its way to the roots of your teeth, causing various infections.

Bacteria Movement

Bacteria mostly feed on plaque, which is a colorless and sticky film that covers your tooth surface. Plaque builds up due to lack of regular cleaning. If you fail to clean this plaque, it forms a hard substance known as tartar. The presence of this substance further protects the bacteria, making it hard to remove them. The continued stay of bacteria on your tooth initiates a way for it to start moving towards the root.

A tooth is naturally protected by a hard tissue called the enamel. This is by far the hardest tissue in your body, and it is mainly made of minerals. However, due to the presence of bacteria, the enamel is exposed to acids that weaken it. As a result, bacteria will move through it and head towards the root. This will also lead to the exposure of your tooth root; you will experience tooth sensitivity when you take cold or hot drinks. Other signs of an exposed root include toothaches, and, in some cases, gum disease.

The best way to prevent bacteria from moving down the root and causing damage is by proper dental hygiene. You should clean your teeth on a regular basis. For the best result, use a soft bristle toothbrush and brush gently between your teeth. You can also combine it with flossing for excellent results. Furthermore, you should also book an appointment with us for regular dental checkups. This will help get rid of any bacteria that could cause dental problems.
