What is the best time to remove wisdom teeth?

What is the best time to remove wisdom teeth?Wisdom teeth are at the back of the mouth and might not need to be removed if they are healthy, fully grown, or positioned well so as not to affect biting. If you are also able to clean the wisdom teeth then you need not remove them. If the wisdom teeth do not have room for growth they are removed since they can cause problems.

When impacted

Wisdom teeth can sometimes remain hidden in gums and are not able to fully emerge. This means that the teeth become impacted, and they are trapped in the jaw. When you have impacted teeth, you are likely to have infections that can lead to a cyst that will damage teeth roots or bones.

When it is hard to clean the wisdom teeth

When the wisdom teeth emerge partially through your gums, they become hard to clean and this can lead to the formation of plaque. Bacteria hide in between and they can cause an oral infection or can lead to gum disease. If you are not able to clean the teeth, then you need to have the wisdom teeth removed.

Crowding the other teeth

When wisdom teeth don't have enough space for coming up they will crowd the nearby teeth. The dentist will recommend that you remove the wisdom teeth if they are crowding the other teeth in the mouth. You can also remove the wisdom teeth if there is pain on the teeth, repeated infection of soft tissue on the lower last tooth, gum disease, extensive tooth decay, and if it is causing damage to nearby teeth. If you are unclear or undecided on whether to remove the wisdom teeth, then talk to the dentist or the oral surgeon so that they will know what is good for you.
